Quarterback Zack Chevalier completed 20 of 31 passes for 253 yards and four touchdowns, as the Mustangs (7-2, 7-1 GPAC) posted 515 total yards of offense and held the Tigers (1-7, 1-7) to just 37 rushing yards.
Chevalier connected with four different receivers for scores — Kyle Sisler from six yards, Griffin Kraft from three, Kelynn Jacobsen from 12 and Reece Spieler from 30. Jacobsen led the receiving corps with seven catches for 99 yards, while Sisler added 53 yards on five receptions.
On the ground, Juven Hudson rushed for 132 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries, and Jaylen Burch added 70 yards and a 1-yard score. The Mustangs averaged 6.5 yards per carry and 7.3 yards per play overall.
Defensively, Morningside forced two turnovers and recorded three sacks in its second shutout of the season. Linebacker Blake Bellamy had a team-high nine tackles, while Cole Reilly, Landry Phipps and Cale Pittenger each contributed sacks. Reilly and Victor Atupra both intercepted passes in the fourth quarter to seal the victory.
The Mustangs led 21-0 at halftime and broke the game open with three third-quarter touchdowns, including Hudson's 3-yard run and Spieler's 30-yard reception. Morningside held Doane to just 14 first downs and 1.4 yards per rush.
