Chevalier, Walls earn Player of the Week honors following win at Dordt
Quarterback Zack Chevalier was named as the Offensive Player of the Week for the third time this season, while Dijion Walls earned this week's defensive honor.
SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Following a solid road win at Dordt last week, two Morningside University football players were named Great Plains Athletic Conference Players of the Week.
Quarterback Zack Chevalier was named as the Offensive Player of the Week for the third time this season, while Dijion Walls earned his first defensive honor in his senior campaign.
Chevalier completed 30 of 44 passes in the 31-21 win over the fourth-ranked Defenders, good for 308 yards. He threw three TD passes in the first half.
The quarterback from Santa Clarita, Calif., has 3,064 yards in eight games, and has 30 TD passes. He's averaging 383 yards per game.
Walls, meanwhile, earned three interceptions in Saturday's win. His third interception happened during the fourth quarter in Morningside territory.
Walls has six interceptions in 2024, including one for a touchdown. The senior defensive back from Hazelwood, Mo., also has 31 total tackles.
