DURHAM, N.C. – For the second consecutive season, Joe Dolincheck has earned the biggest individual honor in NAIA football.
Dolincheck was selected as the NAIA Football National Player of the Year for the second time, leading the Mustangs to a 10-0 record before an injury sidelined him for the final two regular season games and the opening round of the NAIA playoffs.
Dolincheck, a Bellevue, Nebraska native and senior at Morningside, threw for 3,185 yards and 37 touchdowns this season, while only recording four interceptions. He completed 68.9% of his passes on the year.
For his career, Dolincheck has totaled 16,219 passing yards, the most in Morningside history. His 168 total touchdowns are the most in NAIA history.
He is the first Morningsider to win multiple NAIA Player of the Year awards, and is one of four Morningsiders to win the award overall. The other three Player of the Year award winners from Morningside are Kyle Schuck (2013), Ryan Kasdorf (2015), and Trent Solsma (2018).
Dolincheck was chosen to the NAIA/AFCA First-Team All-American and received the GPAC Player of the Year award, both for the second straight year.
