Academic Accolades - Three named all-district

Morningside College was well represented on the 2018 Google Cloud football all-academic District 3 first team, released Thursday, Nov. 15.

Selected by CoSIDA (Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America), senior quarterback Trent Solsma (SR/Dakota Dunes, SD) (Dakota Dunes, S.D.),senior wide receiver Connor Niles (SR/Sioux City, IA) (Sioux City, Iowa)and junior linebacker Jacob Katzer (JR/Wellsville, KS) (Wellsville, Kan.)were all honored. Niles and Solsma gained their first award, while Katzer picked up his second. The trio's selection resumed an amazing string in which the program has had three-or-more student-athletes gain first team merits in each of the last eight years.

Katzer, Niles and Solsma's names now move on to the national ballot for academic All-American consideration.
