Mside seeks continued improvements at NWC
A trip to the Bultman Center in Orange City Wednesday, Jan. 20, marks the second dual of Morningside College's 2021 competitive cheer and dance schedule.
Head coach Alisha Steckler's dance team is 1-0, while head coach Dakota VanHauen's cheer squad is 0-1 following their season openers at Concordia University on Jan. 16. Mside dance topped the Bulldogs 71-68.5, while the Maroon cheer team was edged by CU 67.75-67.25.
* Dating back through the 2017-18 season, the Mustangs' dance program has won nine consecutive duals. They defeated NWC 88.65-72.8 a year ago on their home floor at Allee Gymnasium in the Rosen-Verdoorn Sports Center.
* In that same span, the Morningside cheer program has won six of eight. It was a close-knit finish against the Red Raiders during the 2019-20 season, as Northwestern eeked out a 79.8-76.7 victory.
* The two teams are back in action Saturday, Jan. 30, when they take on Mount Marty University at Yankton, S.D.
