Mustangs open spring break trip with two wins in Arizona
PRESCOTT, ARIZ. – Morningside had no shortage of offense in a pair of victories today, picking up 10-8 and 16-6 wins over Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University to kick off the Mustangs’ spring break trip.

PRESCOTT, ARIZ. – Morningside had no shortage of offense in a pair of victories today, picking up 10-8 and 16-6 wins over Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University to kick off the Mustangs' spring break trip.
Kai Purdy-Burton picked up the win in game one, going 4.2 innings while allowing nine hits and seven runs. Mason Hymer picked up .2 innings of relief action before Josh Pratt took the mound for a 1.2 inning save in which he posted a clean slate.
Michael Delzell, Connor Woods, Sam Wilt, and Conner Maston all had home runs in the contest, while Ryan Kiolbassa and Wilt also had doubles. Maston had four home runs, Delzell and Woods had two each, and Wilt and Nathan Thomas each had one.
Luke Blackmon added a big fly in the day's finale, as Maston picked up a triple, and Thomas, Delzell, Blackmon, Jacob O'Dell, and Tucker Gibbar all picked up doubles.
Blackmon led the team with four RBIs, Maston and O'Dell each had two. Thomas, Delzell, Wilt, Gibbar, and Jaxon Bunkers each had one.
Cade Nolan got the win in game two, pitching five innings and striking out seven as he gave up all six runs. Rhys Fairweather made his Mustang debut with a clean sixth inning and Jordan Bierdemann made his with a scoreless seventh.
Morningside returns to the diamond at Embry-Riddle for another doubleheader against the Eagles tomorrow.
