Wade Canaday threw a scoreless third, with an Eddie Brancato blast over the left field wall to increase Morningside's lead, but struggled in the fourth, recording one out before Bellevue found its stride, stringing together opportune hits throughout the rest of the game.
Morningside had nine hits throughout the contest, but was unable to build enough to get any runs across, save the bottom of the eighth inning when Ryan Kiolbassa drove a run in.
Hunter Hope and Jayson Willers, this week's Great Plains Athletic Conference player of the week, each had two hits in the contest.
The Mustangs have a couple days to recover from the loss before opening a four-game series at Briar Cliff on Saturday at 1 p.m.
