SEWARD, NEB. – With a trip to the Great Plains Athletic Conference Baseball Championship on the line, the Mustangs ran up against the bracket’s host and top seed, Concordia. Morningside had fared well enough against the Bulldogs in the regular season, splitting a four-game series to conclude the campaign, but came up short in the bracket championship, losing 16-3.

SIOUX CITY, IOWA – Winning the season’s penultimate series was the goal as Morningside returned to Sioux City’s west side for the final two games of the four-game baseball series with Briar Cliff. The Mustangs accomplished their goal, courtesy of a pair come-from-behind wins, 8-5 and 6-4.

SIOUX CITY, IOWA – Morningside hoped to make up some ground on league-leading Concordia and Doane after falling out of the top spot earlier this week. Mother Nature and opponent Midland University both had other plans as a weather system wreaked havoc on the weekend’s schedule for the Great Plains Athletic Conference, with only four teams active as the rest pushed their games to next week, and Midland forcing Morningside to settle for a split, with the Mustangs losing game one 6-5 before winning the nightcap 11-7.

SIOUX CENTER, IOWA – Morningside saw just how important every game is going to be as the baseball season draws to a close, as the Mustangs, courtesy of a split to Dordt, went from leading the Great Plains Athletic Conference to sitting in a three-way tie for second. After a comeback attempt to the Defenders came up short, 10-7, the Mustangs dropped the hammer in a 10-0 win in game two.

SIOUX CITY, IOWA – Morningside Baseball opened the floodgates in today’s Great Plains Athletic Conference doubleheader with Mount Marty, scoring a combined 23 runs in the 9-6 and 14-5 wins. The Mustangs dethroned the Lancers as league leaders, taking partial possession of the title in the process.

OMAHA, NEB. – Rather than the soggy soil of MercyOne Field, which is still soft from the last precipitation Sioux City received, Morningside Baseball headed south to slightly warmer Omaha, where it could play a “home” opener on the turf of Elkhorn Legion Field. The Mustangs swept Mayville State’s Comets on the day, 5-1 in the opener and 6-4 in the finale.

TUCSON, ARIZ. – Morningside Baseball wrapped up its spring break trip with the second half of a two game schedule with Ottawa University-Arizona. With an opponent that the Mustangs had seen three days prior across the diamond, Morningside produced a scaled back version of the earlier contest, which was won 18-7, handily winning 9-2.
