Bio

 A four-year member of the Morningside track squad, Ken Metcalf placed second in the North Central Conference in the long jump as a senior. The 1938 graduate was a frequent place winner in various area track invitationals.

Metcalf served as a chaplain in the US Army during World War II, reaching the rank of captain. He was awarded The Bronze Star for his heroism in evacuating wounded soldiers under fire in a battle near Bleisbruck, Germany. Metcalf served several United Methodist parishes as pastor throughout Iowa during his career.
