Bio
Jim Gibson set numerous single season, and career school passing records, and led Morningside to two of its most competitive back-to-back seasons in its North Central Conference, and NCAA Division II history. The Sioux City native, and North High graduate led Morningside to 6-5, and 7-3-1 overall records in the rugged North Central Conference in 1984, and 1985, respectively. Gibson passed for 6315 yards in his career, completing 546-1001 passes, and 40 touchdowns.
In 1984, the signal caller had 201 completions for 2457 yards, leading Morningside to its first winning season in 13 years. His 1985 season produced 2071 yards passing, and 20 touchdowns, including 342 yards in a Mankato State victory.
The football team set 29 school records, and was ranked in the NCAA Division II Top 20 for the first time in school history with Gibson at the helm.
