Bio
Born on a farm near Hawarden, Iowa, Bernie Feikema went on to record a distinguished career as an athlete, and school administrator. Feikema played football for Morningside under the legendary coach Jason “Saundy” Saunderson, and earned 1941 All-North Central Conference honors as an end. He coached, and taught in Gowrie, Iowa, and later served as superintendent of schools at Hospers, and Hawarden. He taught at Hoover Junior High School, and was the assistant superintendent of schools in Sioux City for 12 years. Feikema was a well-known high school and college football referee, and worked hundreds of games throughout his career.
