Bio
A flamethrowing pitcher from Sioux City East, Jeree (Carlson) Menning played a key role within the highly-successful Morningside softball program in the North Central Conference, and NCAA Division II ranks in the mid-1990’s. Carlson led Division II with the most victories (31) in 1994, and led the nation in 1993 in strikeouts per inning with 171 K’s from 137.2 innings worked. She was named first-team All-American in 1996, when she led the Division II ranks in strikeouts with 344, and 15th with an earned run average of 0.97.
The two-time All-NCC selection led the league in strikeouts twice, fired a no-hitter against perennial power Nebraska-Omaha in 1993, and was selected five times as NCC Player of the Week. She ended her career with 910 strikeouts, and 89 career victories, both school marks. In 2021, she was inducted into the Iowa High School Softball Hall of Fame.
