Bio

Gene Asprey '47 participated in football, and basketball for Morningside, and later served as an assistant football coach for the Maroons. He quarterbacked the 1946 football squad which compiled a 3-5-1 record. Asprey scored the winning touchdown on a 60-yard scamper as Morningside defeated North Dakota 41-39 that season.

Before college, he served as a Lieutenant in the Marine Corps during World War II. Asprey joined the faculty at the University of Iowa in 1959 as a Professor of Physical Education until his retirement in 1991.
