Kelley Ashby, 1990, was a multi-sport standout for Morningside, playing a role in softball, volleyball, and basketball in her time on campus. She received Io-Kota All-Conference honors for softball in 1988 and 1989, being named first team both seasons, and selected NAIA All-District for the back-to-back campaigns. She was part of the Io-Kota conference championship teams in both softball and volleyball in 1988, and was a member of the 1990 softball team that transitioned to the NCAA DII North Central Conference.
Cassie Cheever, 2008, started for four seasons in her role as middle blocker for the Mustangs. She is the first volleyball player in Morningside history to be named first or second team all-conference by the Great Plains Athletic Conference, landing on the second team in 2004 and 2005, and climbing to first team honors in 2006 and 2007. She was part of the 2007 team that claimed the GPAC postseason tournament title, and in 2006 was named NAIA second team all-region.
Beau Kildow, 2010, was a standout wide receiver and return specialist for the Mustangs. He was named 2007, 2008, and 2009 first team all-conference by the GPAC as a wide receiver and was a first team all-conference punt returner in 2007 and 2008, checking in on the second team in 2009. Kildow was a 2008 and 2009 College Fanz Sports Network first team All-American.

Dave Rebstock was Morningside's longtime SID who passed away in 2018. His tenure at the institution spanned the move to the NAIA and saw Morningside become a national leader in many sports. A transplant from the newspaper business, Rebstock's words immortalized events ranging from women's basketball's first national championship to the men's volleyball program's first victory. From the GPAC Cheer and Dance Championships to numerous edge-of-your-seat contests with rivals Briar Cliff and Northwestern, he was constantly promoting Morningside student and staff achievements.
Kelly Anderson, 1980, is the 2022 Alumni Coach of the Year. Anderson is the girls basketball coach at Ballard High School. His team was the 2021 Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union 4A state champion and took the runner up title in 2022. Anderson has been the head coach of the Bombers for a decade, but has seen the program become a perennial powerhouse in his 20 years of coaching at different levels in the district.
