Ron O'Neal, 1973, donned Morningside maroon on the gridiron, serving as an anchor for the offensive line as a center for all four seasons of his collegiate career. O'Neal was a three-time NAIA All-District 15 team member, being named to the list by unanimous vote his senior year, and was named All-North Central Conference for the 1972 season.
Anthony Fieldings, 1993, was also a standout on the grass of what would become Elwood Olsen Stadium, holding program records for both total and assisted tackles in both a single season and for a career to this day. Fieldings totaled 256 assisted tackles and 422 total tackles in his career. In 1991, he recorded 151 total tackles, including 87 assisted tackles, on his way to receiving All-NCC honors.
Erin (Keitges) Michael, 2010, was a standout among the Mustangs' distance corps, making the GPAC All-Conference team and qualifying for the NAIA national meet all four seasons of her collegiate career. Keitges' success extended to the oval, earning all-conference honors in 16 individual events. She was a multiple-time national qualifier, earning NAIA All-American honors in the steeplechase and distance medley relay. Keitges still holds Morningside's records for both the indoor and outdoor 5,000-meter run as well as the outdoor 3,000-meter run.
Colby Henderson, 2013, was a nuisance to opposing offenses for three seasons under Steve Ryan, picking off 20 passes for 472 yards and breaking up another 20 pass attempts in his career. He had 124 tackles, with 175 total tackles, including 4.5 tackles for loss and one forced fumble. Henderson's speed and deception made him a natural fit as the deep man on kick returns, returning 28 kicks for 802 yards and a career record 28.6 yards per return. Henderson holds 10 regular season, postseason, and single game records, was a three-time First Team GPAC All-Conference honoree, GPAC Defensive Player of the Year, and an AFCA and NAIA All-American.
Mary (Horton) Olorundami, 2014, compiled a 27-24 career record in singles play for Morningside Tennis, matched with a 23-27 doubles record. She capped her campaign as a Mustang with an 11-7 season at no. 1 singles, earning GPAC all-conference honors for the third time in her career. Upon graduation she was the Morningside career leader in both singles and doubles wins. Horton also backed up her leadership on the court with effort in the classroom, earning College Sports Communicators' Academic All-American honor twice.
Adam Stevens, 2001, is the Alumni Coach of the Year for 2023. Stevens played baseball during his career at Morningside, starting all four seasons and playing in 110 consecutive games. In 2014 was named the head coach at NCAA DIII Aurora University, following 11 seasons at Central College. He has averaged 35 wins per season in the last five seasons, appearing in four consecutive NCAA Regional tournaments. Stevens eclipsed 500 career wins this season, adding a 42-6 mark to his total for 2023 to sit at 516-301 for a career winning percentage of .632.
